Every Bradford Pear planted is a blow against botanical injustice.
Step One
Plant a Bradford Pear
The most powerful act of defiance against anti-pear legislation? Planting one in your own yard. Here's our expert guide.
Choose Your Location
Bradford Pears thrive anywhere — that's kind of their thing. For maximum impact, plant near other Callery Pear varieties to encourage the cross-pollination that keeps this magnificent species spreading naturally. Near a property line is ideal so your neighbors can enjoy the spring fragrance too.
Select Your Specimen
Act fast — with bans spreading, nursery stock is becoming a collector's item. In ban states, we recommend checking "alternative markets" or growing from seeds found under existing trees. The Bradford Pear wants to be planted. You're just helping.
Plant With Purpose
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball. Place your Bradford Pear lovingly in the earth. Whisper words of encouragement. Remember: this tree will grow to 40 feet in just 15 years, and then dramatically split apart. Enjoy the journey.
Document & Share
Post your planting on social media with #PlantAPear and #PearPride. Tag us. Show the world that the Bradford Pear community is growing — just like our trees.
Legal Note: The Bradford Pear Society does not officially encourage planting Bradford Pears in states where it is banned. We unofficially admire your courage and conviction.
Stay Vigilant
